Ed Mitchell is a UCLA graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and over three decades of expertise in real estate and tax deed investing.

He formerly owned and operated an appraisal business, providing valuations for 1–4-unit residential properties, large multi-family complexes, and substantial commercial retail projects for institutional lenders and the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC). Ed's deep understanding of property analysis and market trends has established him as a trusted resource in the real estate community.

As a Tax Deed Acquisition Specialist for a $150 million tax deed investment fund, Ed has spent the past 32 years helping investors navigate the complexities of tax deed acquisitions. Those painful lessons became the foundation of everything I teach today. I realized that tax deed investment isn't just about finding cheap properties—it's about understanding the legal framework, doing proper due diligence, and having a systematic approach to every acquisition.

Over the next 30+ years, I refined my process through hundreds of auctions, rehabilitation and disposition. I learned which states offered the best opportunities (for my current situation), how to spot red flags before buying, and most importantly, how to consistently find properties that will be high ROI projects for my company and even more importantly for my investors. While acquiring over 400 properties and attending 200+ auctions across multiple states, I began passing on my knowledge/experience to others. When someone asks me what I do for a living, "I say I'm a real estate investor". Real Estate investment is extremely profitable, but it's not always soul fulfilling. Mentoring (or passing on knowledge) happens to be soul fulfilling for me. In the 90's what was informal mentoring evolved into structured training programs, and eventually into the "Tax Deed Collective", which I can comfortably say is the most comprehensive platform designed to give investors everything I wish I had when I started.

I don't believe in get-rich-quick schemes or overpromising results. Tax deed investing is a legitimate wealth-building strategy, but it requires education, due diligence, and consistent effort.

My approach is to give students the complete picture—the opportunities AND the challenges. I teach the exact system I use for my own investments, including the research checklist, bidding strategies, and risk mitigation techniques that have protected me from costly mistakes.
